PEEL POVERTY ACTION GROUP
PPAG needs volunteers to provide  literacy classes to some of the people using soup kitchens in Brampton.This is a volunteer opportunity for university or college students to gain experience,  newly-certified teachers to stay busy while waiting for placement, or for retired teachers/professors/instructors.Classes will probably take place weekly.  Orientation will be provided and training as required.PPAG will issue a volunteer certificate indicating responsibilities and hours of services for your resume and portfolio.

SAFE CITY MISSISSAUGA
Safe City Mississauga’s Aspire program is looking for high school students interested in tutoring elementary school students in underserviced neighbourhoods. With a time commitment of only one to two hours per week, tutors have the opportunity to earn community service hours, get valuable job experience, and make a real difference in the life of a student and in their community.

The Volunteer MBC – Mississauga Centre is located at 151 City Centre Drive, Suite 501 inside the offices of Family Services of Peel on the 5th floor near Hurontario Street and Burnhamthorpe Road West. The Mississauga Centre is open Monday through Friday from 9:30AM to 12Noon. One-on-one consultation for volunteer placements is available by appointment only.

ASPIRE PROGRAM: SEEKING HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT VOLUNTEERS
Aspire is looking for high school students interested in volunteering as peer tutors. Safe City Mississauga’s Aspire program delivers no-cost peer tutoring to students in grades K-6 in priority Mississauga neighbourhoods. Each student is paired with a peer tutor, who meets with the student once a week to work on a subject area with which they need assistance. The time commitment is only one to two hours per week. Tutoring positions are available at three centres across Mississauga and centre hours are Monday-Friday, 3-6 p.m.
